Dear friends and supporters of HOPE worldwide, Our recent global conference WE ARE HERE, from October 11-13, was a time of celebration, inspiration and dream realization as over 600 attendees from 23 countries gathered in San Diego to collaborate and spread the love of Jesus through service of all kinds to people around the globe. We recognized some of our heroes like Dr. Mark Ottenweller for his tireless service and ground-breaking work in Africa. Pat Gempel, who co-founded HOPE worldwide alongside her late husband Bob, gave a stirring charge to continue his legacy with the same love for all people that Jesus demonstrated during his life.
Participants attended inspiring classes by global experts on such diverse subjects as early childhood development, empowering refugees, Biblical justice, community engagement, disaster relief and prevention and respectful service. They were also inspired by the next generation of volunteers who will change the world with love through thriving programs like HOPE worldwide Volunteer Corps and HOPE worldwide Scouts.
An amazing collection of speakers came from every continent of the world to teach and share deep convictions about loving our neighbors, including Dr. Ben Barnett of Atlanta, Walter Kotkowski of Boston, Harlem Saliem from Jakarta, Indonesia, Priscilla Sine Mal from Papua New Guinea and Dr. Marc Aguirre from South Africa.
