Mandy is a married woman who was baptized in the Hong Kong Church of Christ on December 23, 2018. When she was young, she lived in a village and earned a living by farming. Like a lot of Chinese women, she wanted to have a better life and she moved to Shenzhen by age 20. Later, she got a Hong Kong dream and married a man from Hong Kong. Very soon after she moved to Hong Kong, she gave birth a daughter. However, it was a terrible marriage and the man was a drunker and gambler. They divorced eventually. At that moment, she met our sister Yoyo who bought her to the church. She studied the Bible but her heart was still not focused on God, but herself. She quit studying the Bible and went back to China to meet her present husband, who had also been divorced. While they were dating, she went through a miscarriage. Our sisters did not give up her and stayed close with her, especially during the hard time of her miscarriage. She realized that she could only rely on God, not on any man. She bought the man to the church and started to study the Bible again. They were challenged to sign the marriage certificate officially. They were able to witness the Bible talk leaders Chor Yee and Taylor get married and celebrate a wedding together. Filled up with all the love, both Mandy and her husband Mr. Wan studied the Bible seriously. Mandy is now a humble person and has put all her focus on God. Her prayers were also filled up with all the scriptures. God is amazing and has done much in her life. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 46:1-3, ” God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. ”
