The church in Johannesburg, South Africa, celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme, “Out With the Old, In With the New,” with over 700 women in attendance.

The event kicked off with a dance, a song, and a poem by Precious Wanangwa Chirwa. Three sisters, Fikile Dikgale, Sophia Botha and Thando Mauze, shared about the challenges they have faced in their lives with great vulnerability. “They spoke from the heart and were relatable to all age groups,” said Gugu, one sister in the church.

Everyone present enjoyed the first post-pandemic women’s event and agreed the time was well spent. The feedback was enthusiastic.

One visitor was in tears afterwards. She shared that she’s been yearning to worship God, and praying for God to direct her to the right doors of worship.

Another sister, Quinnette, said, “Our whole church family worked together to make the day a success. From the brothers who served food and drink, marshaled the traffic, provided musical entertainment, and cleaned up afterwards—thank you, thank you, for an awesome women’s day!”

Many echoed that the brothers played a big part in making all the women feel special. Women’s ministry leader Irene Renton shared a memorable, interactive, and practical lesson. “It was beautiful and refreshing. I loved the affirmation of the mirror exercise. As women, we sometimes forget how precious we are in God’s sight,” one sister said.

Several visitors came out to the Sunday worship service the following day and expressed an interest in studying the Bible. We pray that much fruit will grow from the seeds sown during and after the event. To God be the glory! Watch the full event below.
