During our search for recovery, I find it ironic that we often miss – Jesus, the Healer. Today, we will review a few features of this amazing man and his heart to heal us. Decide today to keep him at the forefront of your strength, soul, mind, and heart.

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness . – Matthew 9:35

Jesus healed many people with all kinds of diseases and illnesses—mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional—the heart, mind, soul, and strength—because that’s what it takes to love God and Jesus was all about people loving God.

Jesus healed every age, gender, socio-economic type person, political stance, prominent or those of the lower class. It did not matter what your religion was, in fact, the less religious people seemed to receive more healings. Think about that one!

Jesus healed whether it was your fault or if you had nothing to do with your problem—he was an equal opportunity healer.

What about you? What in your life needs fixing? Perhaps you think, “Jesus is not interested in my issues.” Or, “he’s too busy with really big healings.” Or, “I should be over this by now” and there’s shame blocking your way. We all come up with reasons why he won’t help us.

Jesus once asked a blind man: “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” – Mark 10:51

Jesus is interested in your life and your needs. He knows what your needs are, understands you, can empathize with you, and wants you to get better. Jesus cares, he shows compassion, is creative and powerful. There is nothing he can’t or won’t do for you – you just have to be a willing party.

Go to the Master Healer. Read about him voraciously, tell him your greatest needs, and marvel at the answers he gives. No matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, how far away you’ve strayed, Jesus is still concerned, and is ready to heal – it’s what he does, who he is, and how he brings glory to his Father.

Here is a great book I finished in 2020. It is Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund. The author has helped me to radically change the way I see Jesus and in particular, his heart for me. As a “sinner and sufferer” for 40 years in the kingdom, I often viewed Jesus as an impatient Lord, waiting for me to “get my act together” so I could get on with the business of being a disciple. However, I’ve learned that Jesus’ heart draws me to him in whatever season of life I’m in. This is the best $20 I’ve spent in a long time.
