Today, we’ll look at questions that summarize each week of Disciples In Motion. Take time to review these questions in light of your challenges in recovery.

This is one of the final lessons for those attending Disciples In Motion. We explore the various ways God has worked in members’ lives so far. Some have experienced a major breakthrough in an addiction or abuse issue, or other relationship or character issue that has been plaguing them.

Others have finally begun a process they avoided for years. Some have started, stopped, and started again. Recovery is messy.

This week we’ll review the different ways Jesus has helped you during your Disciples In Motion time. Look for what has worked in your life that was not there before. Faithfully, search out Jesus’ voice over the past few months. How has he helped you? How can you consolidate your gains?

They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. — Mark 8:22-25

Recovery is often a lifetime journey. Jesus took a few opportunities to heal this man and sometimes that is true for us. We start, stop, start again, make strides, and often fall back. When we fall, we learn from our relapses and then we move on – recovery is a journey.

Consider these questions for your recovery journey from each week:

Week 1: Jesus’ Creative Heart to Heal

Discussion Question: What is your favorite healing by Jesus and why? Apply these concepts to your recovery issue. Be inspired by his heart to heal you!

Week 2: Innocence & Identity – Woman with Bleeding Issue

Discussion Question: How has Jesus restored innocence and identity in your recovery?

What difference does this make for you? Continue with God’s identity for you.

Week 3: Brokenness & Denial – Invalid for 38 years

Discussion Question: Brokenness can be difficult to obtain. What has helped you so far? How can you increase that help and make it more meaningful and effective?

Week 4: Miracle & Change – The Demoniac

Discussion Question: How has repentance changed you in the past eight weeks? What lies have you put away? What Godly mindset can you develop in opposition to the lies you believed?

Week 5: Trust & Fear – Fearless Canaanite Woman

Discussion Question: What is your greatest fear in recovery and how have you experienced God’s love in a greater way to combat that fear? Memorize I John 4:18

Week 6: Forgiveness & Power – The Broken Woman

Discussion Question: How has forgiveness changed you? Others? Do you need to forgive anyone?

But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. – Psalm 130:4

Week 7: Relationships & Community – Five Guys’ Faith

Discussion Question: Who has helped you the most and how? In what ways can you deepen the relationships that mean the most to you? Who are you one of the “four” for?

The church setting is the perfect place to help those with all kinds of mental health needs or issues with sin.
