I Was Hungry Ministry is a ministry of the Central Jersey Church of Christ. Over the last five years we have fed over 500 disciples in extreme poverty monthly through the use of food vouchers throughout Central America with the generous donations from disciples across the USA.

When COVID-19 crisis created panic-buying in the USA we realized that our Central American disciples would not have the funds to stock up food as we did.

We contacted evangelists and HOPE worldwide leaders in the countries we serve , Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador, which make up six churches, and are in contact with Nicaragua to see what we can do to help.

The story is the same and changing rapidly for the worst.
Stores are emptying out, disciples getting laid off with no money to purchase food and many have run out food or running out.
In some of the countries like Honduras, police and military are arresting people who venture out of the house.
As the situation continues to worsen, each country is moving to stricter phases of lock down.

The Honduras church, through HOPE worldwide Honduras, received a waiver from the government to deliver food to disciples. This is high risk for the volunteers because of rising violence and the chance of being infected.

With donations from some financially better off Honduran disciples who went into their savings to provide for the needs of their church family and the funds we sent them, they were able to purchase bulk rice, beans, flour and other staples to divide and distribute to those without food supplies which include many elderly and high-risk individuals.

We are sending funds to the other countries as well but the need grows higher every day as more disciples lose their jobs without unemployment benefits.

They need our help, prayers and money.

With over 1500 disciples among the churches, the task seems impossible but just as Jesus miraculously fed the multitude we are looking to be God’s hand in answering their prayers for a miracle.

We plead for your help in being part of the miracle to feed the multitudes today.
