As the Coronavirus COVID-19 sweeps around the globe, it is affecting every person on the planet in some way. The invisible enemy brought our world to a halt overnight. With over one million cases, the projections are staggering.
Our first thoughts turn to family as they should. Our physical family and our spiritual family. We are so proud of how the wonderful disciples in the 711 International Churches of Christ in 150 countries are responding to this crisis.
What can I do now? Care and pray! Take care of yourself and others around you. And don’t stop praying! Shawn Wooten and disciples in Kiev, Ukraine created this Facebook page for us to pray together specifically for those who are affected: Prayer for Our Global ICOC Family with COVID-19.
What has been done? In just the past week, our churches joined around the globe for these incredible virtual events online:
March 26 International Day of Prayer and Fasting: ICOC leadership called for us to join together to seek God’s protection, guidance and will in this pandemic. Disciples Today and Keydogo collaborated to solicit, produce and distribute seven videos of 35 disciples in different cities around the world sharing an update on their country and praying. As these videos were spaced throughout the day, we actually all prayed together as the time zones on various continents passed. You can access and share these videos from the Keydogo YouTube channel.
March 27 Online Devotional for Singles and Young Professionals : Over 1,000 disciples joined a worshipful virtual devotional titled Vision2020: On the Horizon .
March 27 International Campus Ministry Devotional
March 30-31 Quarantine Church Con 2020 (#QCC2020): 1336 individuals attended the two-day virtual conference featuring 33 professionals and ministers who are being effective in their online ministries. The goal was to equip our churches of all sizes to meet the intense needs at this hour for online services, family groups, and outreach. God blessed it far beyond our expectations! All sessions are available here. Gratefully, the entire free event was paid for by the sponsors! God inspired Kalah Haley, a millennial from the Denver Church of Christ, with the idea and production. Disciples Today partnered with Kalah and her team to promote and mentor this excellent event. Truly God is taking our media farther and faster than we imagined.
March 31 Release of Finding Guy: Keydogo released to the public their first feature length, award-winning film effectively telling the story of Guy Hammond. Great for personal viewing or sharing in groups.
