“Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.” Psalms 95:2-3 It was an awesome atmosphere of praise and worship at the Lagos Church’s 30th Anniversary Praise Concert at the National Theatre in Lagos. The theme of this year’s praise concert was “To Live is Christ.” It has been 30 years of God’s blessings and faithfulness in a land so desperate for hope and salvation, and we thought of ways to celebrate the Lord’s goodness. Why? A people in darkness have come into his wonderful light! How do we express our gratitude to God for this glorious year of our 30th anniversary? One way we collectively decided was to declare an evening of songs and praises.
There was a frenzy of planning, activities and hard work leading up to the concert held on Easter Sunday. The team of men and women were highly motivated and reliant on God to see this day come to reality despite the odds. With more than 2,000 worshippers singing to God and declaring his praises for close to five hours, it wasn’t enough. We wanted more. Featuring some of the finest voices in the gospel industry in the country and also superb performances from our church choir and individual singers, the praise concert lived up to its billing. We are excited for the success of the 30th Anniversary Praise Concert and looking forward eagerly to the rest of the anniversary celebrations this year. This was certainly a perfect way to give praise and worship our awesome God for 30 years of his faithfulness to us in Lagos. Shared from ICOC Nigeria.
