The London Church had an amazing time celebrating its 40th anniversary from September 10-11th, 2022, as they focused on remembrance, renewal, and rededication. With participants joining in-person and online from all over the world it truly was a time of refreshment and reconnection. It was amazing to hear from guest speakers Doug and Joyce Arthur (USA), John and Penny Hancell (AUS) and Mohan and Helen Nanjudan (UK). All these guest speakers played pivotal parts in forming the London church at different times in its 40-year history.
With lessons touching on the past, including many hilarious photos from the ’80s and ’90s hairstyles and fashion trends, and loving one another and forgiving one another presently, there was a spirit of unity and connection amongst the church. What was especially inspiring was the coming together with disciples spread out all over the UK and Ireland. With a bit of friendly competition including a mini-Olympics tournament in the famous Regents park, the fun was in full force. This continued with picnics and adventures around London together as old friendships were rekindled and new ones were ignited. It was truly a special time, especially in the aftermath of the 2020 pandemic, which made it that much sweeter to celebrate this momentous anniversary as one family all together in person.
The church here in London is looking forward to building bridges amongst the churches in the UK, Ireland, and the Nordics while inspiring the next generation of leaders as they continue to carry on the vision that the Lord Jesus Christ gave as they journey on towards the future here in London. There is much to do, but there seems to be a greater hope and excitement as the journey continues on towards maturity and creating a pathway for the young and old alike to follow in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus together.
