COVID-19 is not holding the 170 disciples in Maputo, Mozambique back from studying the Bible with our friends and helping them come to an understanding of the wonderful gifts of forgiveness, grace and eternal life they can find in Jesus.
Telma, a single mom, who has been attending church for a while, made Jesus Lord on Saturday, May 2. Junior, who grew up in the church, was baptized the following Wednesday. The very next day on Thursday at sunset, Tiago had his sins washed away. Also on Thursday, Yulka from our teens ministry was baptized by her parents and on Saturday we welcomed a new single sister, Mercia.
Welcome! Or as we say in Portuguese “Bem vindos ao Reino!”
It doesn’t stop there as more teens, campus students, singles and marrieds are studying the Bible and will hopefully make Jesus Lord in the coming weeks.
The State of Emergency in Mozambique also didn’t stop Victor and Yolanda, from getting married this past Saturday! And of course they did so in a compliant manner complete with face masks, social distancing and only a handful of people witnessing the event in person. Congratulations!! “Parabens!!”
As a church, we are grateful for how God has opened our eyes and hearts to what He can do through us in this “new normal.”
In the beginning ,it was perplexing to us. We were unsure how to worship from home, work from home, and educate our children at home. But we realized that sharing our faith, preaching the word, encouraging one another daily, seeking first the kingdom apply whether or not we are in lockdown.
To God be the glory!
