“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” – Genesis 50:20.

It seems that now, more than ever, women’s issues dominate the news. Broward Church, a region in the South Florida Church of Christ, hosted a Women’s Day that addressed this cultural curiosity for identity and meaning by asking the question: What if everything was intended for good? In Genesis 50:20, Joseph enlightened his terrified brothers as to the real meaning of his crazy life story: God is always working, and he alone overrules evil with soul-satisfying good. He redefines the disappointment, loss, and injustice of everyday life; nothing is too broken for God to make beautiful.

Our women’s ministry carried the “Redefined” theme throughout event planning. We wanted our members and their guests to fully participate and connect in new ways. This year, we started with a “Social Hour” with small bites, allowing for plenty of time to meet up with friends and fellowship. Next, the program featured a video of testimonies that ended with a“reveal.” Our guest speaker, Kim Evans from the Greater Philadelphia Church of Christ, engaged the audience with a adynamic message that included live polling. And hearing nearly 400 women join their voices to sing “It is Well with my Soul” – it actually does help our soul!

Now we are praying for our sisters to share from the scriptures and their lives how God is the only one who can redefine us and work all things for good.
