The University Church of Eugene seeks a leadership couple to join our beautiful family in Eugene, Oregon and help guide and direct our growing number of amazing house church families in the Willamette Valley.
We’re looking for a leadership couple who has the same vision and purpose as our family, to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves (making disciples). Someone who can walk alongside us (teens, campus, singles, and marrieds), who will fully invest their hearts in us and Oregon, and who is willing to teach and train us to keep the above vision and purpose as the eternal cornerstone of our fellowship.
Planted in 2016, our church fellowship has grown to include two churches (Bend and Corvallis) with a combined membership of 45 faithful members (married, singles, and campus). It has also sponsored two house church plantings in Salem and Portland which now function as their own churches. We have loving, committed, and sacrificial married and singles ministries of all ages and areas of expertise.
In addition to the main church in Eugene, home of the renowned University of Oregon, we also have house churches in two other premier cities with campus ministry opportunities. This includes Oregon State University (Corvallis) and Central Oregon Community College (Bend).
In June 2023, our former leadership couple transitioned to a larger sister church in the Northwest. God used this transition to work powerfully within the membership these past eight months. He called us higher and helped us embrace anew the importance of each member living as a disciple and everyone working together. Meaning, not placing all the responsibility and growth of a church solely on the leadership couple. We believe God has positioned us and the right leadership couple to turn the State of Oregon upside down.
Where we live
Eugene is a metro area of approximately 200,000 people and is blessed with amazing natural beauty. One hour’s drive takes you to the Pacific coast, with its beaches and quaint coastal towns. Ninety minutes the other way lands you in the gorgeous Cascade mountains, where hiking, skiing, boating, and other outdoor pursuits await. Moreover, Portland is 100 miles to the north. But everything you need is right here, including the University of Oregon, home to a world-class research institution and Division 1 Big Ten athletic program. Not to mention highly esteemed undergraduate and graduate programs.
The ideal candidates
Eugene has a unique personality and a big-hearted community. But it’s not for the spiritually faint of heart. If you’re looking for an easy place to “retire and relax” in the ministry, this is not the place for you. However, if you’re looking to step out of your comfort zone and enter the spiritual battle, then we urge you to apply.
We are not looking for an authoritarian, high-pressure, performance-based leadership style that leads to burnout or bitterness. We’re looking for a man and woman whose faith and life examples show that they are people after God’s own heart and honor. And who will fight to protect his people. A couple who is not afraid to embrace any Goliath-sized leadership opportunity before them, and who will inspire us to follow the “for God’s glory” leadership style we seek.
If that is you, then we look forward to hearing from you no matter what age, marital status, ministry experiences, pay and benefit requirements, or whether you desire a full-time or part-time. We also invite disciples who are not looking for a paid ministry position but a place where they can be part of something amazing with like-minded disciples. Come for the short-term, long-term, or until God calls you home.
