The Bakersfield Church is excited to be seeking a lead ministry couple to help build and guide our church forward. Bakersfield is located two hours north of Los Angeles in the Southern Joaquin Valley. We are a diverse church of 49 members. The Bakersfield metropolitan area is over 750,000 people, with several large colleges (Cal State Bakersfield/Bakersfield College) offering a young ministry couple an incredible opportunity to come and grow with the church. The church has been led by the core leadership group (four couples) for the past three years. We are now in a place spiritually and financially to hire a couple and advance God’s work here in Bakersfield in an exciting new chapter.

Recently the Holy Spirit has been moving powerfully in our ministry. Our closest sister church, the Antelope Valley Church, volunteered Al Baird (retired elder and minister) to come each weekend for a number of months to spur us on towards greater faith, repentance, and vision through his preaching and mentorship. The church is responding in a great way. We have now re-pledged the church, and along with missions help from the Antelope Valley Church, we are now able to hire a great couple.
The lead ministry couple will directly lead the charge in rebuilding our campus, singles, and young marrieds’ ministries. The ministry couple will work alongside our four core-group couples to lead the church. The ideal couple is a young married couple (24-35 years in age) with at least a couple years of ministry experience (especially campus ministry). We are looking for couple with a vibrant faith, a deep love for God and people, a shepherds heart, a cooperative spirit, a love for the word of God, and evangelistic boldness. The minister/evangelist must be dynamic and effective in the pulpit.
Ongoing support and training will be provided by the Antelope Valley Church in addition to local training by Al Baird and the core group. Our lead couple will attend staff meeting with the Hiddlesons (Steve and Keri) and the AV staff twice a month for encouragement, training, and discipling. The AV church is committed to helping us get off the ground. We envision a church here of hundreds in the next 10-15 years!
