We are a family. Brought together by the love of God to know him, to grow in our relationship with him and to take the gospel with us wherever we go. That was the guiding message of the 2018 Northwest US & Western Canada Conference held in Spokane, Washington over the weekend of July 27-29. Over 1,000 people attended the conference from 13 churches stretching across five states and three provinces. We joined together for a weekend of fellowship, teaching and fun. The keynote speakers were Dave and Beth Pocta who guided lessons on family ministry and spirituality including a Sunday lesson on the book of Jonah. There were also 44 breakout classes with teachers from across the NW US. HOPE worldwide was on hand to help encourage and educate the churches on the great work they are doing. We were able to raise over $4,800 in a freewill offering on Sunday. The fellowship was electric throughout the weekend but a few highlights made some lasting memories. The teens took over the downtown area in a game of “Escape the Park” an escape room style game. The singles and campus had a rooftop mixer and the little ones enjoyed bouncy houses and games in our kid zone. The Sunday worship’s crowning moment was a theme song written by Danny Figgins and Rick Biordi entitled “As a Family, We Go.” Click here for a copy of the theme song sheet music. We then concluded the weekend with a baptism of a sister from the Palouse Church of Christ. Overall this event achieved the vision cast out two years earlier; to celebrate being a family. We rejoiced in knowing the God who loves us. We invested in growing in our faith, relationships and skills. Then we set out to take the family and faith back to our cities for the glory of God.
