Jacqueline became a Christian in 1997 but left the church a year later. She married Dickie, and gave birth to a son named Wyan. Jacqueline considered her family of three to be living a happy and good life; moreover, her income provided a solid financial foundation for the family. Because of this, she never thought about seeking God again or returning to church.
However, God’s plan was unique. In October 2020, Jacqueline resigned from her job and didn’t start a new one until December. It was during the pandemic, and she spent most of her time at home watching TV dramas until she grew bored and wanted another hobby to pass the time. She remembered that there was a Bible at home and found the Bible stories compelling, reading them for four to five hours every day. She even kept this daily habit after returning to work. One day, Jacqueline recalled that even when she was a Christian, she had never finished reading the entire Bible. Thus, she kept reading and ended up completing the whole Bible in about eight months.
“During my Bible readings, many tears were shed. I started to remember how I had chosen to leave God; I felt I no longer needed him. I even thought that everything I had was earned by myself. Despite that, God was still there all along, continually blessing me,” Jacqueline said.
After that, Jacqueline wanted to draw closer to God. She continued reading the Bible and praying daily, and gradually started watching online sermons from the church. Furthermore, she recommended Bible reading to her husband and her son, discussing biblical principles with them in daily life. This spiritual habit has been maintained for more than three years. Over time, seeds of faith were growing in the hearts of this family of three, leading Dickie, an atheist, to gradually become interested in the Bible.
As days went by, Jacqueline believed that God was waiting for her to return to his church, so she made a decision. In March 2024, Jacqueline came to church with Dickie after reaching out to Christians via the church website. Soon after, she began to study the Bible with the disciples, came to understand God, and recognized her sins. Eventually, she and Dickie decided to be baptized together in December 2024. Jacqueline was grateful to have restored her relationship with God after decades. In addition, their son, Wyan, was also baptized in March of the following year.

“I believe God himself brought me back to church,” Jacqueline said. “When I seriously sought after him, I realized that God’s love is even more attractive and precious than anything we can get from the world. Despite the smooth life I’ve been living, God is so worthy of my lifelong pursuit. ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full’ – John 10:10.”
