The Hampton Roads Church is seeking to hire a married couple, or one man and one woman, for full-time youth and family ministry, to serve, lead, and inspire the next generation of disciples.

The Hampton Roads Church is a vibrant, mission-driven fellowship with a long history of committed discipleship, community impact, and raising up next-generation leaders. The Hampton Roads area is in southeast Virginia and includes the cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, and surrounding towns and counties.

The desired candidates would have experience walking with teens (in partnership with parents) with the goal of developing and growing a life-changing faith in God.

Successful candidates will work directly with the regional evangelist and women’s ministry leader who oversee the youth and family ministry, with the intent of training and growth. The youth and family ministers will also work closely with other region leaders in the HRC, as well as the elders and their wives to help fulfill their duties. A training plan will be created based on the needs of whomever is selected.

Responsibilities include:

  • Disciple teens and teen workers through one-another relationships, mentoring, hospitality, and ongoing training.
  • Provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care to teens and teen workers while partnering with ministry staff.
  • Equip teens to grow in their faith, character, and convictions.
  • Partner with parents of teens to build strong spiritual households.
  • Work with staff and elders to develop a vision for the youth and family ministry, spanning children’s ministry through high school.
  • Collaborate with other Virginia and ACR youth and family ministries to plan events like teen camp and regional retreats.

Qualifications:

  • Strong personal walk with God and a passion for youth and family ministry work.
  • One to five years of experience in campus ministry, youth ministry, or church leadership (preferred).
  • Ability to lead, teach, and disciple teens and teen workers.
  • Humility to be trained by ministry staff and elders.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively on a team.
  • A heart for evangelism, community engagement, and building diverse ministries.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours based on school-day rhythms and teen family schedules.
  • All candidates must be United States citizens or have permission to work in the U.S. permanently.

Compensation is commensurate with previous experience. Benefits include full health/dental/vision insurance as well as matching 403(b) retirement contributions.
