The Heartland Youth and Family ministries were busy this summerwith their annual camps and volunteering with HOPE Volunteer Corps.

The beginning of June kicked off with Heartland Youth Camp (HYC).This year’s focus was “Stand,” as we aimed to help all 185 sixth through 12thgrade students focus on Ephesians 6:13. There were nightly lessons aboutputting on the armor of God in order to stand up to the devil’s schemes. Duringthe day the students engaged in team activities and cabin bonding time. All counselorsand campers braved the scattered thunderstorms and utilized the time to jump insome mud puddles along the way.

The week following was Heartland Kids Kamp (HKK). HKK had 88students in attendance. These few days helped the second through fifth graderslearn, “When life is unfair, God is good. When life is good, God is good. Whenlife changes, God is good.” The campers and counselors had fun with asafari-themed week being silly while learning about God’s character.

The Heartland also had about 25 volunteers go on a HOPEVolunteer Corps (HVC) this summer! The locations of their trips ranged fromBolivia to Haiti to Seattle. We are so grateful for all of those who sacrificedtheir time and money to serve and learn more of what Jesus’ ministry lookedlike to bring home to the middle of the US.
