Illumination Publishers International (IPI Books) has long served our global family of churches by producing biblically grounded books, studies, and resources written by teachers, evangelists, elders, and other leaders within the ICOC. These materials focus on discipleship, scripture, Christian living, family, leadership, evangelism, and practical help tailored to the needs of our congregations worldwide.

Now IPI is extending that mission through a new podcast: The Page-Turner Journal. Hosted by Joey Hungerford, the show features conversations with the authors of IPI titles, beginning with Daren Overstreet, Kit Cummings, Collin Lee, Andy Fleming, Tom Jones, Roger and Marcia Lamb, Gordon Ferguson, and more. The goal is straightforward: to add deeper value and discussion to the books themselves, make the ideas more accessible to audio-visual learners, and to reach the next generation with social media content and resources produced by the podcast.

These interviews bring out the context, ministry experience, and vulnerable heart that can hide between the lines of the printed page. Listeners hear why a book was written, how the author has lived the material, and what they hope churches and individuals will take away. Rather than simply summarizing books, each episode sits down with the author for a deeper look at the heart behind the writing, the stories that shaped it, and how the principles apply in real church life. Early episodes have covered a range of timely topics:

Captivated with Tom Jones: exploring the “loving outrageousness of Jesus”. Tom shares the story behind the book’s title, inspired by poet Mary Oliver’s famous line, “What is your plan for your one wild and precious life?” Tom unpacks why Jesus’ core message was the Kingdom of God, what repentance really means, why Jesus opened his teachings with “amen, amen,” and the origin of the word “church.”

This Doesn’t Feel Like Love Either with Roger and Marcia Lamb: a candid conversation about ministry, parenting, grief, and the call to “waste not your suffering.” The Lambs talk about silent grief within the church and practical advice for sharing burdens without comparing.

Walking in the Light with Andy Fleming: addressing healthy, transparent relationships in the church, confession, and navigating difficult issues like discipline with love and clarity. This episode explores why following biblical principles like Matthew 18 remains challenging and how intentional, transparent leadership can foster a more supportive and honest church community.

Jesus the Unreasonable with Collin Lee: a challenge to move beyond a comfortable version of Jesus toward the radical call of genuine discipleship. Lee covers the forgiveness modeled by Jesus in real time on the cross and how we can follow this unreasonable example.

Biblically Resilient Parenting with Daren Overstreet: practical help for raising children with a biblical worldview in a culture marked by syncretism and shifting truth. This episode also shares actionable strategies for managing screen time, fostering biblical literacy, and implementing gospel-centered practices at the family dinner table.

40 Days of Prayer with Kit Cummings: a testimony from addiction and a wild life to a midnight baptism, a thriving ministry, and eventually walking away from it all. Kit opens up about hitting rock bottom, getting sober, finding his calling in prisons and danger zones, and the 14-year daily prayer practice that became his book and spiritual breakthrough.

If you’re looking for resources that go deeper than the page, conversations that show how these principles play out in real church life, give the podcast a listen this week or pass on to a friend who may not be a reader. These are the voices of teachers, evangelists, and leaders from within our family of churches, speaking candidly about the books they wrote and the lives they live. We pray The Page-Turner Journal strengthens your faith and encourages your spiritual growth.

Episodes are available on the IPI YouTube channel as well as Apple podcasts and Spotify, with new conversations releasing every month.
