Dear ICOC family,

In these past eight months, Hong Kong has been undergoing an ongoing series of demonstrations to protest against the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill. There has been hostility, violence and even gunshots between Hong Kong citizens and the police on the streets in many parts of our city, including shopping malls, residential areas, and universities where we have disciples. Thanks God that so far no disciples we know have been injured in the upheaval. May we have your sincere prayers that we will have faithful and peaceful hearts to face this severely challenging socio-political crisis.

Prayers are our spiritual weapon to face this critical moment. We are engrossed in understanding the Word of God and learning to live out the true meaning of being the salt and light in our daily life. We have been preaching and teaching disciples in the past few months to be peace makers, good neighbors and to take care of each other spiritually. We don’t want to promote hatred or violence, so that our prayers are heard by our Father as we strive to preserve peace and respect among all human beings.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” – Jeremiah 29:11-12 (NIV)

We earnestly ask you to join us in prayer for the peace of Hong Kong, and that our almighty LORD would give Hong Kong plans with hope and a future. Thank you for your support, encouragement and prayers.

With much love and gratitude,

Hong Kong Church of Christ
