Job summary
The campus ministry intern supports the spiritual formation, outreach, and community life of college students in San Antonio. This role involves evangelism, teaching, mentoring, and coordinating campus-ministry activities in alignment with the church’s mission, biblical principles, and the direction of church leadership.
Reports to: Director of Family Ministry
Key responsibilities
The campus ministry intern assists in planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the campus ministry, including:
Spiritual leadership and discipleship
- Cultivate a culture of discipleship, community, and spiritual growth among students.
- Build relationships through one-on-one meetings, small groups, and consistent campus presence.
- Provide pastoral care, including prayer, spiritual guidance, and encouragement
Outreach and teaching
- Lead and facilitate campus outreach programs (Bible discussions, personal studies, evangelistic events, discipleship groups, public preaching).
- Assist in developing and teaching Bible study outlines, curricula, and other spiritual formation materials.
- Engage in evangelism and help facilitate seeker-focused Bible studies.
Leadership development
- Recruit, train, and mentor student leaders to shepherd their peers.
- Help coordinate ministry teams and involve students in service according to their gifts.
Program and event coordination
- Assist in organizing ministry-related events (retreats, conferences, services, service projects, and church-wide events).
- Coordinate with the youth and family ministry to support a healthy transition from high school to college.

Skills and competencies
- Biblical and theological depth with the ability to teach for transformation.
- Strong relational skills grounded in biblical “one another” practices (encouragement, admonishment, confession, mutual submission, etc.).
- Missional leadership, demonstrating initiative and modeling outreach.
- Ability to recruit, build, and equip teams for ministry and service.
- Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable with digital tools and group messaging.
- Collaborative posture—able to participate in team discussions, offer honest input, and submit to leadership while maintaining personal integrity.
- Trainable and eager to receive feedback.
Job expectations
- Maintain a consistent personal walk with God and a sustainable ministry rhythm.
- Actively participate in church worship, staff meetings, and church events.
- Plan, lead, or delegate execution of campus ministry events and initiatives.
- Proactively communicate with church leadership, student leaders, volunteers, and parents (as appropriate).
- Pursue annual continuing education related to campus ministry and young-adult discipleship.
- Uphold church safety policies and campus regulations.
