This is the story of Uncle Kang’s long journey toward faith and baptism, shaped by decades of prayer, love, and God’s quiet guidance. Uncle Kang is Aunt Mona’s husband, and he began attending church with her more than thirty years ago. A taxi driver by profession, he watched his youngest son, Yu-wah, grow up in the church and become a Christian at a young age.

An older man with his family.
Uncle Kang and his family

In the past, Uncle Kang held many negative views about the church. Yet he also experienced the deep love within the church community, especially when Yu-wah was born. At that time, Aunt Mona suffered severe bleeding and was in a critical condition. He saw how the brothers and sisters in the church prayed earnestly for his family, and how God brought them through that crisis. Even so, he still did not actively seek God’s will.

Everything began to change a little over a year ago when elder Turner started studying the Bible with him. Though they faced many challenges along the way, God’s Word moved his heart deeply. Uncle Kang realized it was time to humble himself before God, to stop relying on his own understanding, and to put God first.

Although Uncle Kang appears very serious and rarely smiles, he often becomes emotional when speaking about his family. Throughout the Bible study, Aunt Mona quietly prayed for him. Near the end, she even assisted him in writing his assurances of faith. Her companionship brought him tremendous encouragement and confidence. When Aunt Mona affirmed his growing desire to seek God, a rare, radiant smile shone on his face.

More than thirty years of waiting, filled with highs and lows, yet God never stopped hearing the prayers of Aunt Mona and the church family. God had been preparing everything behind the scenes all along. Glory be to our God!
