Last month, the Southern African School of Missions (SASM) held its second teaching block of the year in Johannesburg, South Africa, to train the next generation of ministry leaders in the region.

Six teachers from South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria were involved in teaching the Christ and Culture module. They covered how secular culture in our post-Christian society is different to God’s kingdom culture. Race and culture was also covered, including how African culture and traditions compare to kingdom culture. One of the key discussions concerned how to be “all things to all people” in a diverse society and church, starting with developing cultural humility.

SASM is now in its fifth year and currently has eight students, three of whom will graduate at the end of 2025. Last year’s graduate, Elton Mucavele joined the mission team in Beira, Mozambique, at the beginning of the year.
