January 31 will remain a memorable date for the International Church of Christ in Tshikapa, in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In a single day, 20 teenagers were baptized, an extraordinary moment of grace and joy for the church. Seventeen are children of disciples, reflecting the fruit of faithful spiritual investment in families.
This vibrant congregation, part of the Central African region led by Moses Kalala, now numbers 382 members under the devoted leadership of Maurice and Cécile Ntambwe. Their inspiring leadership has enabled the establishment of a culture of love, spiritual formation, and investment in youth, an area that has become a priority in recent years.
One of Maurice and Cécile’s children was among those who were baptised. Maurice expressed his gratitude to God. “Even before the baptisms of the teens, I was able to see in them a true heart of disciples. They took turns sharing the Word and passionately investing themselves in evangelization. It’s a miracle to see our children voluntarily walk in the footsteps of Christ,” he said.

Recognizing the risks facing adolescents without spiritual guidance, the church strengthened support for the children of its members. In November and December 2025, more than 30 teens and pre-teens gathered for character studies, sparking deep interest. A volunteer group launched further Bible studies, drawing in even more youth inspired by visible transformation among their peers.
The joy of their parents was visible in every smile and every tear. Many spoke of their happiness at now being able to walk in faith with their children, relying on the promise of Joshua 24:15: “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (NIV). For their part, the newly baptized young people shared their testimonies with humility. Some acknowledged the difficulties they put their parents through before this spiritual transformation, while others expressed gratitude for newfound peace and meaning in Christ.
Though they have made a life-changing decision, their journey has just begun. The church in Tshikapa asks believers everywhere to pray continually for their protection and growth.
To God be the glory!
