Bridge Christian Community, the ICOC church in Port Elizabeth, South Africa wishes to appoint ministry staff focused on young professionals.
Where we live:
Port Elizabeth (recently renamed Gqeberha) is a beautiful, mid-sized coastal city in South Africa. There are many attractions and interesting places to visit in and around the city. We have amazing beaches and unspoilt areas of great natural beauty nearby. We are also known as the “friendly city” for good reason.
Who we are:
Bridge Christian Community is a 40-member church with an extensive “diaspora” in South Africa and beyond who are grateful for the family and spiritual growth they experienced as part of our community. We are deliberate in building relationships and partnerships with other churches in our country, continent and the world, and we have a regular stream of visiting disciples (including teachers, evangelists and elders) in town to encourage us and to be encouraged by us.
People experience us as an authentic family and we are known for our deep Bible teaching, with a strong focus on Christian formation. We stress the importance of answering the “Why?” questions in life, starting with understanding and embracing our God-given purpose to be His image bearers.
What we’re looking for:
Our city is transitional due to limited career opportunities, resulting in a higher-than-average turnover of church members. We wish to provide stability and sustainable growth by focusing on young professionals and families who have put down roots in our city. Our priority is to appoint young professional ministry leaders:
- This is a full-time or part-time position (depending on life phase and personal circumstances) for a young married couple, or an adequately trained single brother and sister working as ministry partners.
- The primary focus will be reaching out to young professionals in our city and building a healthy ministry for people in this life phase.
- Contributing actively as a member of the church leadership team is expected.
- Depending on the candidate/s, the position may also involve overseeing the campus ministry.
- Necessary equipping and training will be provided.
The above appointment will be made early in 2025. If you would like to be considered for this position or to know more, contact us at [email protected].
