About a year ago, I started a music project called The Living Word Collective. It came out of something that has shaped my life for as long as I can remember – God’s Word.

I’m Sebastian and I grew up in a Christian home in Stockholm, Sweden, where the Bible was part of everyday life. Every morning before school, my mom would sit with me and my brothers at the breakfast table, memorizing Scripture. At the time, I didn’t always appreciate it. But over the years, I’ve come to see it as a foundation that has stayed with me, words I’ve been able to hold on to in different seasons of life.
Alongside this, music has always been a big part of who I am. I studied music, started leading worship as a teenager, and later became a teacher. Through both music and teaching, I’ve seen how powerful repetition and melody are when it comes to learning and remembering.
About a year ago, these parts came together in a simple idea: What if I could take God’s Word and put it into songs, not to replace reading Scripture, but to help keep it close?
That became the starting point of The Living Word Collective. The concept is straightforward: every song is made directly from Scripture, word for word, set to music in different styles. The goal is not primarily the music itself, but the Word, to help people listen, return to it, and eventually know it by heart. New tools, including AI, made it possible to create music in ways that weren’t available before, but the purpose has remained the same.
Since starting, the project has grown in ways I didn’t expect. People from different parts of the world are listening regularly, and many have shared that music has helped them finally memorize verses they had struggled to retain before. Some songs are also now connected to a Bible reading plan through YouVersion Bible App, creating another way to engage with Scripture daily.

This has also changed how I personally interact with the Bible. By listening repeatedly, I’ve come to carry more of it with me throughout the day, not just as something I read occasionally, but something that stays present.
Looking ahead, my hope is to continue building this as a resource that is simple but meaningful: music that helps keep God’s Word close, in everyday life. Not just to hear it, but to remember it and ultimately, to live it.
