The call was not a familiar number, so the call was not answered…but the Lord provided and they left a message! Kweneshia Price, director of the Aspiring Eagles Academy at North Carolina Central University, had a simple request, “Can we bring a bus load of incoming freshmen and advisers to worship with the Triangle Church of Christ?” Yes, the Lord provides!
On Sunday morning, July 9th, the bus pulled up and Jaren Kelly, a recent NCCU law grad, and his lovely wife Kamilah boarded the bus and warmly welcomed 55 eager souls to worship our God together. We sang songs and lifted up prayers, and guest preacher CL Overturf from Palatka, Florida preached on the model church found in Acts 2. Afterwards, the Lord continued providing as servants Phil and Linda Nabors and Sam and Sandy Blackwell served up a cookout. Triangle evangelist Clayton Walston exhorted us from the book of James to make godly decisions as college begins. We gladly enjoyed some 100 hamburgers and 200 hot dogs and traded countless hugs. The fellowship was hot and mature with questions asked and lives shared by all. We thank Ms. Price and the NCCU Aspiring Eagles for the call, coming and jumping in together with us! Surely the Lord himself provides (Genesis 22:8).
