Just like couples prepare for marriage through premarital counseling, preparing for parenthood in a similar way can help couples feel more unified, confident and ready. That is why we created The Parenthood Primer, so couples don’t have to guess their way through parenting. This workbook provides structured guidance and thoughtful discussion questions to help expecting couples reflect deeply and consider the kind of family they want to build.
The Parenthood Primer is a 10-chapter workbook that guides expecting couples through:
- Embracing a new identity as parents
- Prioritizing your marriage
- Creating a family vision
- Identify ways to build a trusted village of family, friends, and mentors
- And much more
Each chapter includes scripture, key principles, discussion questions, and practical exercises for expecting couples to reflect, plan, and grow together.
Set to release on December 1, 2025. Pre-order your copy on Amazon.
What people are saying
“Taking this pre-parental course was one of the best decisions my wife and I made in preparing for parenthood. It sparked meaningful conversations we hadn’t thought to have on our own, such as our marriage, future children, and the kind of family dynamic we want to build. I highly recommend this course to any couple looking to build a strong foundation before stepping into parenthood or who are already in the early stages of parenthood.”
— The Daley’s, first-time parents
“Michael and Angela have curated a wealth of spiritual wisdom and practical help in this book, and they model what they teach. Their conviction about laying spiritual foundations in our home lives is needed and welcomed. Their hard work will greatly bless any family who leans in and lets this wisdom shape them.”
— David Pocta, PhD, Director of Leadership Development at CHORD
“We strongly encourage both expecting parents and new parents to read The Parenthood Primer. The DeAquinos have done an excellent job of addressing some of new parents’ biggest challenges from a Biblical perspective. Their emphasis on working on your marriage, building a village, examining your own faith, and thinking about how you were raised are all of paramount importance as you begin the God-given task of parenting.”
— Drs. Michael and Mary Shapiro, Licensed Child Psychologists

About us
Michael and Angela have over 25 years of combined experience in ministry, with a strong focus on youth and family. Michael graduated from Harding University with a degree in Youth and Family Ministry, and Angela holds a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati. From 2007 to 2022, they were involved in full-time ministry, serving in both Cincinnati and Denver. Through their work with youth, they witnessed the challenges many young people faced in developing deep, lasting faith. This experience led them to ask: What if parents could be equipped earlier, before their children entered the adolescence stage? Inspired by this vision, they developed their pre-parental counseling workbook to help young parents lay a strong foundation and to empower churches to better support families from the start. This ministry was born not from a feeling of being qualified, but from a strong calling they received from God.
